Terms and conditions of enrolment
Course Location
To complete your CAP course, you are required to complete 11 theory days and five weeks of clinical placement. Wesley Institute has Nursing Council-approved placements in facilities throughout New Zealand; the regions you could be sent for clinical placements are listed below:
- Northern Region (Auckland, Waikato, Tauranga, Tokoroa, Whangarei, Dargaville, Rotorua, Taupo)
- Central Region (Napier, Hastings, Gisborne, Wellington, Whanganui, New Plymouth)
- Southern Region (Christchurch, Nelson, Blenheim)
Placements in all regions are limited, and there is no ability to choose where you want to go.
Conditions of Enrolment
Enrolment is subject to availability of places at Wesley Institute of Nursing Education. If Wesley Institute reserves a place for a student and offers enrolment, subject to fee payment, the enrolment becomes binding as a contract between Wesley Institute and the applicant.
Disciplinary Procedures
If a student does not comply with Wesley Institute rules and the laws of New Zealand, Wesley Institute reserves the right to suspend or expel the student. Students will normally be given one verbal warning followed by two written warnings to remedy the problem prior to suspension or expulsion. In any case where a student is in breach of New Zealand law, then expulsion is immediate. No refund of fees will be made.
Payment and Fees
In signing this declaration form you undertake to pay all fees by the payment due date on the invoice. Wesley Institute reserves the right to amend its fees. Failure to pay course fees on or before the due date may result in your placement being cancelled and offered to the next applicant.
Refund Policy
A student may be eligible for a refund of 80% of the course fee paid, only if the student withdraws and requests a refund in writing at least 8 weeks before the class start date. Please note the administration fee is non- refundable.
If Wesley Institute withdraws an Offer of Place, or is unable to provide the course, all tuition fees will be fully refunded.
A notice of withdrawal due to exceptional circumstances may be accepted as grounds for a refund of 80% of tuition fees. This is subject to the provision of acceptable documentary evidence in support of the application for a refund, and subject to the date Wesley Institute administration received a written notice of withdrawal. This includes:
Inability to obtain the appropriate visa required for entry to New Zealand.
Serious illness or disability of the student.
Death of a student or close family member (parent, sibling, spouse, or child).
Political, civil, or natural events that prevent the arrival of the student.
No Refunds
Wesley Institute will not refund any fees to a student whose offer of place is withdrawn due to supply of fraudulent documentation.
Wesley Institute will not refund any fees to a student who is removed from the course through non-attendance an/or is expelled by the Wesley Education Review Committee.
Liability
Wesley Institute of Nursing Education will take every care to ensure your well-being, However Wesley Institute will not be liable for any loss, damage or injury incurred when you’re at the Institute. In starting a course at Wesley Institute, you will be deemed to have accepted all enrolment conditions.
Indemnity insurance
Students are expected to have Indemnity Insurance cover before commencing nursing practice experience. Students must have indemnity insurance before clinical placement commences. NZ Nurses Organization (NZNO) has student coverage on their website. This is compulsory and must be paid online prior to the start of your CAP. Once paid, please email us with your membership letter from NZNO.
Compulsory – Evidence of Immunity and or Vaccination for Hep B, TB, and COVID-19
If you are offered a place at Wesley Institute, you will need to supply a signed immunisation status by a doctor and you may also be required to produce evidence of your vaccination.
Attendance and Behaviours
You will be expected to attend classes and behave in a responsible manner at Wesley Institute. If your attendance does not meet Wesley Institute expectations or if your behaviour is detrimental to the Institute or other students, you may be asked to leave the programme. In this event your fees will not be refunded. It is strong discouraged but if you need to work or be in paid employment during the Wesley CAP course, it is vital that you advise Wesley Institute administration of your intentions. This is to ensure you are well rested and ready for your studies and do not pose any risk to patients or staff during your clinical placements.
Privacy / Confidentiality
All information obtained on the student during your enrolment will remain confidential. You may see any information held about you and amend any errors in that information. To do so please contact staff at the Wesley Institute admissions office.
